Privacy Policy

Short by design: no accounts, no cookies, no tracking pixels. Last updated 11 September 2026.

What we store

For every short link:

• the destination URL and the short code you chose or were given
• the creation date, and a salted hash of your network address (never the raw IP)
• your acceptance timestamp of the Terms (when you created the link)

For every click on a short link (kept 90 days):

• timestamp, coarse device class (desktop / mobile / tablet / bot), and the host name of the referring site when a browser sends one

What we never do

• no accounts, no passwords, no email required
• no cookies, no fingerprints, no tracking pixels, no cross-site profiling
• we never sell or share your data — statistics exist only to operate and secure the service
• your raw IP address is never written to disk; only an irreversible salted hash used for rate limiting and abuse detection

Retention & deletion

Click history is kept 90 days. Links unused for 365 days are recycled automatically. You can delete a link and its full history at any time with the secret key given at creation (from the stats page or the API). Deleting a link is immediate and permanent.

Advertising

Ads shown on 1.vu pages (never on redirects) may be served by third-party networks such as Google AdSense, which may use their own cookies under their own policies. The redirect itself — the act of following a short link — is always a clean, ad-free 302.

Your rights

Because we store no personal identity, requests are simple: for anything concerning a link you created, use its secret key or write to hello@1.vu. Security researchers: see /.well-known/security.txt.
