Terms of Service

Simple rules for the shortest links on Earth. Last updated 11 September 2026.

1. What this service is

1.vu ("OneLink") is a free URL shortener operated from the Republic of Vanuatu. By creating a link — through the website or the API — you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. No guarantee — the service is provided "as is"

The service is offered free of charge, without any guarantee or warranty. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we may change, suspend, discontinue, or delete any part of the service — including your links — at any time, with or without notice. Links unused for 365 days may be recycled. You use the service at your own risk.

3. Content rules — protecting the .vu domain

The .vu country code belongs to Vanuatu, and its registry rules exist to keep it from misuse. You must not use 1.vu to link to, promote, or distribute:

• pornography or sexual content of any kind
• child sexual abuse material — zero tolerance, reported to authorities
• violence, terrorism, or incitement to hatred
• phishing, scams, fraud, malware, or any deceptive content
• illegal drugs, weapons, or human trafficking
• content that infringes intellectual property rights
• anything unlawful under the laws of the Republic of Vanuatu or the rules of the .vu registry

We may remove any link that violates these rules without notice, block the responsible party, and — where the law requires it — report activity to the competent authorities. If you spot a violating link, report it: hello@1.vu.

4. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the destinations of the links you create and for keeping your link secret private. You may not use the service to spam, to artificially inflate traffic, or in any automated way that harms the service (rate limits apply and are enforced).

5. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, 1.vu and its operator are not liable for any direct or indirect damage, loss of data, loss of revenue, or business interruption arising from the use or inability to use the service — including cases where a link was removed or the service was unavailable.

6. Acceptance on creation

Every link is created only after you explicitly accept these terms: via the checkbox on the website, or by sending accept_terms: true through the API. If you do not accept, do not create links.
